DIY Hempcrete Tiny House Workshop

Join the professionals at Build with Hempcrete for our 3-day workshop where we will show you how to build your own amazing backyard hempcrete tiny house.  By the time you leave the workshop you will have the confidence and support needed to complete your tiny house on your own.

The Hemp Pod, as we affectionately call it, is a beautiful hempcrete tiny home that you can fit just about anywhere.   With a petite footprint of just 10’ x 12’ (120 sq. ft.), you will be able to complete your own Hemp Pod on a timeline that meets your schedule and with very little risk.

Workshop Information

Join us at Vernonia Springs for the 2023 Build with Hempcrete DIY Building Workshop.  Cost is $495 per person.  Couples are $795.  Tuition includes all training, free tent or RV camping (no hookups available), and all meals (we can accommodate vegetarian, vegan and gluten free).  Glamping yurts and glamping platform tents are available for $75 (includes 3-nights – first come first serve).  Hot shower and bathroom facilities are available.  Visit Vernonia Springs for more information on accommodations.  Vernonia Springs is worth the visit alone!

What is Included in the Workshop?

Professional Building Plans.  Receive one set of professionally designed building plans so you can build the same Hemp Pod we will build in the workshop.  Building plans meet all City of Portland building requirements (some of the toughest in the nation).  If you would like to get a building permit from your local building department, these plans should require minimal changes, if any.  If you would like to make changes to the plans, our architect can handle this for you at a very reasonable hourly rate.

Building Materials Package Information.  Building material packages have been set up with Home Depot, Lowes, etc.  Delivery of materials can usually be arranged for an additional fee.  The building materials package includes the optimal amount of framing lumber, hemp hurd, binder, hardware, and everything else you will need.  You won’t need to guess what materials are needed.  You will also be able to count on the best prices possible for your Hemp Pod project.

Email Support.  Email support will be available for 12-months after the workshop completion date.  We will answer any email questions you may have during your project.  You will also be granted access to our Build with Hempcrete private Facebook group for further support.  We are fully committed to helping you succeed!

Class Completion Certificate.  Each class participant that completes the workshop will receive an official class completion certificate.

Workshop Building Manual.  You will receive a complete instruction manual providing you with the information you will need to build your Hemp Pod.

Meet your Instructor.  Jeff Walton – Lead instructor for Build with Hempcrete.  Jeff brings decades of experience with alternative building methods including strawbale, cob, yurts and hempcrete construction.   Jeff has his permaculture design certification and is a graduate of the Hempcrete Master Class – Endeavour Center – Ontario, Canada.
